Charles Doan has fourteen years industrial engineering and over thirty-five years port/transportation industry experience. He was Boeing Company (commercial) manager in various manufacturing, planning, forecasting and development assignments (domestically and overseas). He moved on and assumed various senior management positions with the Port of Tacoma where as Deputy Executive Director he was responsible for operations, planning, marketing, real estate development and public/governmental relations.
While at the Port of Tacoma he was instrumental in converting one of the largest operating ports into a competitive landlord port with major container ship operations. He pioneered the on-dock intermodal concept, which helped propel Tacoma in to the world class port ranks. He initiated the World Trade Center Tacoma, was instrumental in a number of large industrial development projects, and created the first regional FTZ with other Washington State Ports.
Over the past sixteen years he has provided consulting service for various international institutions, private firms, and foreign governments on: transportation, planning, organization, and development matters. Areas of operation include: Africa, Asia, Caribbean, Latin America, Middle East, and the USA.
